The girl with impeccable taste!

This is too funny not to post.

This is my sister in law, Shauna. I love her so much. Many of you know her, she is probably the strongest woman I have ever known. She is battling her 2nd bout of breast cancer and is doing phenomenal. She is a walking miracle! I could go on and on on this girls faith and optimism! I am so glad she is doing so well, and that I get to see more of her.

Sunday we had a family birthday party. I walked in and Shauna was in the kitchen. We looked at each other and just about died laughing. We were wearing the exact same outfit! We had to get pictures. The funniest part was when we were leaving and putting on our shoes. We both pulled on those UGG style tan boots. Too funny. (Either that, or we are both super lame.)

Picture Update

I have been having some computer issues, so.. this post has been a week long ordeal. None of my pictures are in order, but oh well.

I haven't felt like I've been documenting enough of my kid's personalities and interests enough, and I don't want to forget what a fun stage they are each in right now.

****

Landon has been in tumbling the last few months. He loves it at first, but this last month he decided tumbling makes him tired, and he wanted to be done. (lazy!) I told him I paid for him up to his performance, and he was going to stick it out until at least then. These pictures are not good at all, it was dark, and our camera isn't good with movement.. but you can tell he had a great time and was so proud of himself when he was done! I thought for sure he would want to stay in tumbling... but no. He's retiring. He assured me though, when he's 5, he'll do tumbling again.

Landon is also really into creating things. His most recent thing he likes to do are these beads. The one's you iron when you are done. Just recently he has been into making awesome designs on them. I'm impressed with how symmetrical they are! This heart he made me he turned into an ornament. You can tell he is really proud of himself. I knew it when he said this: "Mom, I'm so glad I made that for you. Now it's your most favorite thing in this whole house."

****

Landon yelled for me the other day and said "MOM!! hurry, grab the camera, or you'll miss this cute picture of your boys!" I'm glad he called me, I think he's right, what a cute picture!

We had our ward Christmas party. Dawson is OBSESSED with Santa. He asks daily if he can go see him, and has already sat on his lap about 5 times. When he sits on his lap he repeatedly says "FOOTBALL! BASKETBALL!" It's cute. Landon could care less.. he knows all these Santas he keeps seeing are fakes, and the real Santa knows what he wants.

****

Have I mentioned Dawson's intense love of football? Wow, I seriously don't think there could be a more obsessed kid. If him and Dave are watching TV, it HAS to be football.. he has to be wearing football, has to have some sort of football in his hand.. and even has us sing football songs to him repeatedly. Can you guess what Santa is getting Dawson?!

Every year we let the kids pick out an ornament. Landon declared what he wanted to get an animal that had been "hunted" I told him that wasn't likely, but Landon insisted he WOULD find one! Well, he was right. He found this hideous deer buck head ornament that says Merry Christmas. He was pleased. Dawson of course picked a football player ornament and has since carried it everywhere with him, and sleeps with it at night. Its already broken in 4 spots. Oh well.

****

This is a coveted toy in our house. I sneak it out of Landon's room when he is at school and let Dawson play with it, just because this is something Landon has a hard time sharing with Dawson. So to see them playing NICELY together with it was definitely a picture worthy moment.

****

This was a fun activity. If you don't mind Dawson eating all of Landon's carefully placed candies, resulting in awful shrieks from Landon. Do you ever picture a really fun activity for your kids, and get excited for it all day.. and then it turns out to be more of a nightmare? Yeah, that's what this was. Next year they will each get their OWN!

****

We were sitting home last Sunday and had a special visitor come to our house with goody bags for Dawson and Landon. Landon was the one who answered the door and was shocked! Dawson was star struck. Landon is pretty sure this Santa was the REAL one because he knew his name!

****

Just another cute one before church. (Dawson is holding his beloved football book)

Landon and Dave went Pheasant hunting. Last year they went, and didn't see anything. So this year, when Dave got two of them Landon was in HEAVEN! We had pheasant for dinner. Well, two of us did, and one of us pretended to. Landon loved his meal and said it was better than chicken.

Another future blackmail picture.

Landon loves school and is doing so well. He can write every letter, tell you what sound they make and is starting to read and write words. He got his homework packet for preschool that is supposed to last all month. He sat down and worked on it for over an hour and got it done in one shot. This is shocking to me because last year it was a fight to get him to complete one page a day! He was sad the next day that he didn't have anymore homework, so we went to the store and got him this workbook that has been keeping him pretty busy.

Dawson is such a funny guy. He is starting to talk a lot more.. but mainly only Dave and I can understand him. He is such a sweet little boy, he loves this baby and still likes to sleep with it each night.
He still is freakishly a daddy's boy! This is really REALLY starting to bug me and make me feel bad. I know it can be normal, but I can't help feeling like I should be the one he runs to when he get's hurt, or I should be the parent he wants to see most when we've been gone. It does have it's perks.. like at church and stuff :) Hopefully this phase of life will end SOON, and I can have my sweet little boy back that wants his mommy.

Landon still loves to cut papers and hoard them wherever he can. I cleaned his room out today and got two garbage bags full of just JUNK! Whatever floats his boat, I guess. He is pretty obsessed with any sort of hunting or fishing. Dave and I were talking about how we need to be careful and make sure he has more diversity in his life. I think obsessive hunter/fishermen are annoying and I don't want my son to become one.. :) He also is still loving building things with legos, blocks, magnetics, ect. And is always up for any sort of art project.

That's about it for updates! Can't wait for Christmas this year!!

Halloween

This year was just like all the others. We went to my parent's house so all the grandkids could go trick or treating together. Dave feels bad we do this every year, thinking we should be home to pass out candy in our own neighborhood. I don't feel bad. The one year we actually did stay home we had a total of 6 trick or treaters. Not worth it. I don't know if it's because we live in a culdesac or what.

My sisters and I decided we would each make a soup to share with everyone. Everyone seemed to like it, so I think we'll make it a tradition.

We all headed out to trick or treat at about 6:15. It took Dawson one house to catch the hang of things. He was running to every door and yelling "TICK a TEAT!" And, if you weren't careful he would just go ahead and run into people's houses. Dave even had to run into someone's family room to get him. Embarrassing. At about 7:30 some of the kids were ready to come home. Dave and I headed back with some, but when we were walking up to my parent's house, both Dawson and Landon decided they did NOT want to be done. So, we went for another hour. By then I was cold and tired, so I headed home with Dawson (who probably could have gone MUCH longer). Landon and Dave went out for another half hour or so.

Another successful Halloween!

All of the grandkids (and Joelie, Amy's niece, who may as well me one of us )

My Mummy and Frog

He loved wearing this costume, he kept saying "RIBBIT, RIBBIT!"

I told him to smile, he said Mummy's don't smile.

Rylund and Landon. Still, no smile.

Showing off his loot! (and a smile!)

So excited!

Kaemon and Landon- eating and trading the goods!

Blessed

Today has been kind of a bummer day. When I look at these sleeping boys I can't help but realize how truly bless I am.

I love them.

Dawson pulled this baby out of his closet before he went to bed. When I went to check on him, this is what I found. How sweet, he even put a blanket on baby.

NEW POST BELOW!

Oodles of October

Lots of pictures! Mostly random ones, but cute nonetheless!

FRIGHTMARES!

PUMPKIN CARVING!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Landon's first time deer hunting. This was hard for me to let him go. I threatened Dave with divorce if he let anything happen to him. It worked cuz he came home safe, and he got to see Mason (cousin) get his first deer! Wow, Landon loves hunting... and that's an understatement.
I was trying to prep him before he left, explaining he might not get a deer, and he might not even see one. He told me it didn't matter, he just liked being in the mountains with dad and grandpa.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We went to Black Island Farms again for Landon's field trip. Good times.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is seriously Dawson's favorite thing to do. He knows where vacuums are kept in all the frequently visited homes and BEGS to use them. People are pretty compliant most times. He vacuumed my living room today for 35 minutes straight. I got a whole batch of cookies made!

Watching Animal Planet, a favorite in our house!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Miss Jaycee got baptized a couple of Saturdays ago. She looked BEAUTIFUL! Afterwards we all went to Hungry Bear Pizza for some lunch. We are twinners here, was it planned? Perhaps. :)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Landon has been saying for months now that he wants pajamas like Dawson's, the kind with the feet and zipper. I've been telling him he is too big for those kind now, I didn't think they made them in his size. Well, I was wrong. We were at Target and he got so excited when he saw these. He wears them every night he can.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, again with the sunflower... I tried to get rid of it, that was a bad idea. Good thing garbage day wasn't till later. It has to sit on our front porch, he insists it's the best fall decoration we have.
He made this cute hat at school, he was so excited, until Dawson ripped the legs off of it.

Landon, Landon the skeleton, and Dawson.

Not only is he a mighty hunter, but a fantastic fisherman, too! He brought this baby home and dad grilled it up for him. He told me it was better than fishsticks!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He posed himself for this one.

When I tell Dawson to smile, this is what I get. Still cute, love this face!

He was so proud of himself for this one!

Melts my heart when I see this kind of brotherly love.

NON-PICTURED UPDATES:

Landon had his first primary program last Sunday. He was so excited he had to invite both grandparents and his aunt and uncle. He told me he wouldn't sit up on the stage unless he could see me. So I made sure he could. BIG MISTAKE! Throughout the whole thing he kept whispering (in a YELLING kind of whisper) "MOM! WHEN IS THIS GONNA BE OVER!?" or this "MOM, I'M BORED! I DON'T LIKE PRIMARY PROGRAMS!" I would shush him, he'd get mad and then would pull these awful faces. Then when it was his turn for his part he went up, said it, with a smile on his face.. then sat down and continued to yell at me. He still stood up and sang the songs and did great. Dawson the whole time kept trying to run up to the stage to be with Landon. There is a good reason we are normally seated in the back.

Dawson is so funny right now, he's saying a lot more words and has developed a severe love for football. He loves to watch it, play it, and wear it! If he is wearing anything football he will scream and throw the biggest fit when you try to take it off of him. He is still most definitely a daddy's boy! He can't even look at a picture of Dave without breaking down if Dave isn't home. When Dawson wakes up in the night, I'll try to soothe him (he's getting 4 molars!) and he get's mad and yells for Dave. I'm ok with that.
