WHAT A DAY!

Well.. I love being a mom. I really do. Today, however... I was ready to SCREAM.. Well, I did in fact.

I have a cute, loveable and very active 2 and a half year old. Every parent will tell you their toddler is active. I am here to tell you.. mine will TAKE THE CAKE!!! He is very smart and likes to be constantly stimulated. He will not play with himself and constantly needs me to sit and play with him or always have an activity for him to do. This was fine with me.. well it was until I had a newborn. And even then... newborns sleep all day right? WRONG! Mine has decided that was was going to cry today from 11am till about 3pm. I don't know how to deal with a baby like this. Landon was such an easy going baby and never cried. I am convinced there is something wrong with Dawson. I have been researching reflux, and now I am convinced he has it. Anyone out there have a child that has been diagnosed with this? He has been vomiting alot, he is always wanting to eat (not an exageration.. if he is awake, he wants to be eating) and he acts like he is in pain.. It's really sad!

SO anyway... about my lovely day: Landon told me he was bored. So, we called my nephew over to play. They played really well together and Landon got all his wiggles out and I was able to get some stuff done because Landon has being entertained by someone other than myself. Well, my nephew went home and it was time for Landon's nap. He has decided that he is not going to nap as well as he used to since baby has arrived. I decided last night I was going to lay the law down about this. Well, Landon decided the same thing. He layed in his bed for 2 HOURS! (yelling and screaming over various things) I wouldn't normally mind this.. (at least he's in his room, right?) but I have to sit in my room while he is falling asleep or he gets scared about being upstairs alone. So, I sit in my room for 2 hours with Dawson.... who is crying as I mentioned earlier. Finally, Landon is asleep and I think to myself "Now I can focus my attention on Dawson and get him to sleep" Well.. he wouldn't go to sleep, he wanted to scream his guts out for two more hours. (Did I mention I am going on about 3 hours of sleep?) He finally goes to sleep after 3 nursing sessions and a bottle later, right in time for Landon to wake up. Grr... no nap for me today!

I know.. this doesn't sound like such a terrible day.. but it was for me. Having two kids is a very hard transition, Dave and I wonder how people do more than 2 kids?

Well, on a more positive note.. I have a very understanding husband who tries very hard to give me a break. Valentines Day is tomorrow. Dave and I dont usually do gifts for each other, we just try to do dinner and rent a movie or something. However, this year he decided he would get me a message and a facial. I have never had a facial and I would recomment it to ANYONE! I absolutely loved it. Very de-stressing. So, as I sit here complaining about my day.. I did get a facial and massage yesterday, so things aren't that bad... and I know they will get better once we get into a routine. I've just had a bad day!!!

Cami,
I am SO sorry!!! I do think things will get better, but I totally remember having feelings like that. I didn't understand how anybody could have more than one child. Now it's a lot better. So, I'm confident it will get better for you. It's just a really hard transition to make.

Poor Dawson. I remember when Maggie had a little reflux all we had to do was make sure she was sitting up after she ate. It sounds like that doesn't help Dawson though, so I don't know what to tell you.

It sounds like we need to have a girls night out. We can go somewhere fun for dinner and leave the kids with our husbands. Perhaps next week or something because Dave has already had his hands full every night this week. If you say ok, I'll round up the troops. :) Let me know!

Oh, by the way, Sarah was right about the blood. :( O- blood is the Universal Donor and can be donated to anybody and O+ blood can be donated to anybody BUT O-. Anyway, AB+ blood is the Universal Receiver and can't be donated to anybody but those with AB+ blood. Is that the kind you have?

This was a really long comment. Sorry.

Cami,
I am right there with you. I can totally empathize. I went through pure hell with Owen and I didn't have a 2 year old demanding any attention from me...
All I know is that somehow I got through it and both Owen and I are alive.

If Dawson ever goes on a screaming rampage again and you just can't take it any longer, call me- It hardly even phases me anymore. I can come and bounce him for a few hours. That is what I did all day every day- bounce, bounce, bounce- my legs and back were always soooo sore. Oh well...

As for the reflux, that is one of the issues they suggested that Owen had and we tried all the medicines under the sun- none worked. Owen was truly just a colicky, screaming child. But Dawson doesn't sound quite like the O-town, so don't worry about that.
Seriously- If you want to just shower (there were days that I would have paid a million dollars to just have someone come and deal with the screaming for 45 minutes) or go to the store- call me. I know that I won't kill the kid and it doesn't bother me anymore- it's just like whatever...and I am functioning on a full nights sleep.
