Ice Fishing

Dave and Landon went Ice Fishing with Dave's dad and Brothers. I really didn't want Landon to go.. I get nervous about him falling in an ice hole, or the ice not being thick enough. The whole time they are gone I am stressing! If I had it my way Landon would never hunt or fish. We all know I do NOT get my way :) I know fishing is harmless, I just get nervous with him near water without me there to supervise. I know I need to settle down and let him grow up (ok... and give Dave more credit and trust him more..) . The more he goes on these adventures with Dave the more relaxed I am becoming, which is a good thing. I'm glad Landon has a dad that has a desire to spend quality time with him. He loves it and Dave seems to keep him safe. (Unless you want to consider the fact that he didn't put sunscreen on Landon and now he looks like a lobster. Yeah, Dave feels pretty bad)

Here are some pictures of the crazy boys (and Olivia) freezing their bums off.

If you enlarge this picture you can see Olivia and Landon's nice red faces. Which only got more red as the day went on.

He claims he caught this one with NO HELP!

Grandpa told Landon to kiss the fish.. and he did.. I asked him how it tasted and he just pulled a face. He'd do anything grandpa told him to do.

Diligently waiting by his pole.

Uncle Jeff pulling them off the reservoir.

Maybe This is Old News, But New to me..

Dave and I don't watch the news much. Most of you probably already know this story..
My sister informed me of this horrible adoption tragedy... I've been reading it all night and cannot imagine what this family has had to go through. Here is the link from their blog, start from the very beginning to get the full story, tell me what you think! Heartbreaking...

A Monumental Night!

Last night will be one that will be forever remembered in the Ross household.

Dawson went to bed at 8:20. He did not wake up once, no need to throw a binky in his mouth at 1am. That's, right!! He slept till 6:30 WITHOUT waking up once! I have not felt this refreshed in about 2 years! What a great feeling.

For all you mom's out there who think I am heartless and cruel for making my sweet little Dawson cry in the middle of the night, I'm hear to tell you, call me what you want! SOOO WORTH IT!!!!!!!!! It only took two nights till we noticed an improvement. Six nights later and we have this success.

Thanks for reading and letting me share in my victory.

Christmas and New Years 2008

These would be pictures of all of our Holiday parties (minus the Bruderer Christmas party and Christmas Eve at my parent's, I'm bummed I forgot my camera..)

Ward Christmas Party

The big tall guy in the center would be my hot hubby. Each table had to dress a person up as a tree, Dave was a good tree.
Dawson wasn't so sure about Santa, he didn't cry though, but was on the verge the whole time.

Haycock Family Christmas Party

Christmas Eve at Grandma and Pa Haycock's

Sooo excited about his new tow truck great grandma and pa got him.
My cousin, Heather with Dawson and Eli

Christmas Eve at Steve and Shamane's
(Dave's Bro)

There's that same expression, CRACKS me up!

Dave's parents- affectionately called Moodge and Poodge.

All the Ross cousins with Santa ( who had a striking resemblance to Uncle Jeff. Can't fool Landon, he called it right from the beginning)

Christmas Morning at Home

Christmas Morning at Dave's Parents

New Years Eve

We went to Dave's parents first, then headed to my parents to bring in the new year and play some games. The kids went to sleep at 9pm, that gave us adults 3 hours of serious Settlers.

Whenever we are at my parents for new years eve, Dave and my little Bro take off their shirts at midnight and run up and down the street... weird tradition, I know. Would you expect less from Dave? I'm glad Rory decided to wake up at the last second to run around with them, but he kept his shirt on :)

Overall, we had the most WONDERFUL Holiday! Bring on 2009!

I wasn't going to go this short until I decided I wanted to donate my hair and needed 10 inches to do so. Goodbye hair. Hopefully you make someone very happy!!!

Question

I have now had this same hairstyle for 6 years. Honestly, I am sick of it. I am getting my hair cut on Tuesday. My question to all of you out there is.. should I cut it short? I was thinking of starting at chin-length and coming forward with an A line and slightly stacked in the back. Or, should I just keep it long. My sister told me long hair is in style, and not to cut it. Every time I tell people I want to cut it they get this shocked look on their faces . I know it's "just hair" and it will grow back, all I want are opinions and suggestions. So please help me decide. Yes, if you are reading this I want YOUR opinion! :)

A Whole Lotta Randomness

Seems it's been a while since I posted some pictures and updates, so here we go:

This is something that has been happening too much. Landon thinks he can carry Dawson wherever, whenever. Stinks when he DROPS him.

Dawson and his cousin Eli. These guys are so cute together, they babble at each other, and love to give each other "loves" It'll be fun for Dawson to have a cousin so close to his age.

GRANDMA AND GRANDPA'S HOUSE

This section deserves it's own title only because it's become Landon's latest obsession. He asks every day about every 20 minutes if he can go to Grandmas. Not only does he want to just go there, but he wants to sleep there too.
He used to hate sleepovers, ever since Dawson was born and we were in the hospital with him, he would have nothing to do with spending the night at grandmas. Well, when Dave and I went to park city a couple months ago, we tricked him into a sleepover at grandmas. He LOVED it. Now he wants to do it EVERY night. My mom introduced him to the movie The Never Ending Story, which he now HAS to watch every time we go there. (ANNOYING) We were there yesterday and told Landon it was time to go home and he ran and hid. Usually when we play hide and seek he starts giggling and laughing when we say "where is Landon?" Not this time, this was serious business. He Sat sooo quiet so we couldn't find him. When we did find him he was so mad, he seriously loves staying with Grandma and Grandpa. Here are some obvious reasons why:

Grandpa will give Landon Chocolate milk whenever he asks.(Dave and try to limit his milk consumption due to constipation, poor guy) Landon insists that they then go snuggle in grandpa's bed and watch animal shows. My dad doesn't care that I just told Landon no to chocolate milk. That's what Grandpa's are for anyway, right?

My mom has saved pretty much every toy we ever had a as kids. She has two HUGE toy closets in her basement. It's a child's dream, seriously. She has this semi truck that Landon loves. I've tried finding one just like it and cant. He also loves that his cousin Kaemon is usually there to play, they spend HOURS in the basement playing. He plays best with Kaemon, they never fight. I think it's because Kaemon just pretty much does whatever Landon says.
Since we will never own a dog, my mom "gave" Landon this one. This little annoying poodle puppies name is Josie. Landon takes his role as pet owner very seriously. He makes sure her dish has food and water every time we visit, and likes to cart her all over Grandma's house. Josie is a very tolerant dog. She never bites him..

Grandma also lets him stay awake till oh... say 1am. She sleeps out on the couch with him and they stay awake all night (literally) and watch movies. What kid wouldn't want to spend the night there?

Other Stuff

Doing dishes while Dawson is awake is no longer an option.

He got his first haircut this week. It wasn't out of control by any means, but we needed to even it out, it looks much better. Thanks mom.

This is when Dawson had a little cold and was too congested to lay flat to sleep. What a good hubby I have. Cute picture huh?

My friend, Sarah, invited us to go to Classic Fun Center with her. I hadn't been since high school and was REALLY impressed! For 7.50 you get to use the skating rink, which you can bring a scooter, bike, or whatever. You get unlimited use of the pirates cove,(which is awesome for kids, it's like a McDonald's jungle gym x 10) and all their blow up toys. We played for about 3 hours and got lunch there, which was reasonably priced. Landon loved it and now wants to have his birthday party there.
My mom got this baby for Dawson for Christmas. She already gave it to him (ok.. I was a little excited about it) He LOVES it!!! SO does Landon. He is so stinkin cute on it. Once he grows about another inch he'll really be able to enjoy it. He can even get off of it safely on his own. Not so safely when Landon tries to help him off of it. (refer to first picture)

Other stuff:

Dawson took two steps last week and walks from one piece of furniture to the next. Still prefers crawling which is FINE by me! Still no teeth... He has said a few words. Other than mom and dadda he has said Landon , which Dave, Landon and I all heard. It was hilarious. He was sitting at the top of the stairs and yelled his name and Landon came a runnin'. We think he yelled for him because Landon thinks it's his obligation to help Dawson down the stairs. (refer to first picture) His most consistent word that he says quite frequently now is deer. True Ross baby for sure. One of Landon's first words was Elk. Dave's parents house has 3 deer, 1 moose, 1 elk, 5 pheasants, 1 duck, 2 geese, and a partridge in a pear tree, hanging in their house. It's no wonder why these would be their first words. And yes, this is still hanging in our house. Dawson loves it too much for me to take down.

Landon is still loving preschool, it amazes me how fast he can learn things. The other day I was throwing away our newspaper and he yelled at me to stop. I asked why, he told me I needed to recycle it. He's right. Sometimes I have ambition to be more "green" but I never follow through.
He can also identify every letter in the alphabet along with the sound they make. He is getting pretty good at writing his name.
His nursery class has been bringing him into primary every week for singing and sharing time which he loves and looks forward to. I love hearing him sing primary songs too. I can't believe he is going to be a Sunbeam in just a few weeks!

Dave and I pretty much have all of our Christmas Shopping done! Whoo hoo! I'm really excited for Christmas this year :)
